Bodies in urban spaces by artist Willi Dorner, Austin, USA (more pictures here!)
“Artist Willi Dorner is causing a stir in towns and cities across the world by squeezing gangs of human bodies into nooks and crannies in public areas. For his ‘Bodies in Urban Spaces’ project, up to 20 dancers, climbers and performers wearing brightly coloured clothes run through busy malls and high streets before suddenly cramming themselves into doorways, alcoves and any gap they can find around buildings. During tours spanning his home country Austria, England, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Russia and the USA, Willi and his ‘bodies’ have drawn attention from local police. On several occasions police have stopped performances fearing the performers were burglars or vandals. But to 50-year-old art director Willi, from Vienna, Austria, even bad reactions from the public and local authorities are considered a success. His mesmerising street performance goes to Washington DC on October 2-3 and then to London on October 16-18. “

Kenya, South-Sudan, Sierra-Leone, Liberia – The violence suffered by women there is the extreme expression of discriminations. The ethnic wars in Africa are a source of the worst crimes on women. When meeting them, JR wants to testify of their force, their courage and their noble struggle: first to live, then to exist.
